Plex is a popular streaming app for TVs and other devices that allows you to watch your own content.

It’s like a personal one Netflix that you create using TV shows, movies, or other media that you’ve downloaded — and offer some of their own content.

This morning, Plex began warning all users that their data may have been accessed by an unknown “third party.”

This included email addresses, usernames and encrypted passwords.

In an email from The Sun, Plex said: “Yesterday we detected suspicious activity in one of our databases.

“We immediately launched an investigation and it appears that a third party was able to access a limited subset of data.”

Plex says it has now closed the hole the mysterious intruder used to access its systems.

Now Plex forces all users to change their passwords to continue using the app.

This means that all your registrations will be deregistered.

“While all accessible account passwords were hashed and secured according to best practices, as a precaution, we require that all Plex accounts have their password reset,” Plex explained.

“Rest assured that credit card and other payment details are not stored on our servers at all and were not compromised in this incident.”

Plex reminds users not to share their passwords or credit card numbers over email.

And it recommends all users to enable two-factor authentication so that your login can be verified with an SMS code.
