Paris St Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he will be 100% at the club next season and believes striker Kylian Mbappe will stay with the Ligue 1 champions as well.
Ochettino’s position has come under scrutiny after PSG were eliminated in the Champions League round of 16, while Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, whose contract expires in the summer.
Mbappe was the target of fans’ fury earlier in the season when he said he wanted to leave before his contract expired, but the striker’s performances won fans back and he has eclipsed both Neymar and Lionel Messi as he led PSG to the title.
“In both cases 100 percent,” said Pochettino when asked about the likelihood of him and Mbappe staying next season.
“That’s how I feel today. That’s what I can tell you today. I can’t say anything else. That’s how I feel right now.
“This is football and we never know what could happen. But I have to answer the question about how I feel today. And I did.”
PSG sealed a record-breaking 10th French title with four games remaining last week, but their Champions League failure left fans frustrated.
Pochettino, whose contract expires in June 2023, said there have been no official talks with the club over his future.
“There haven’t been any concrete talks beyond what’s normal in terms of our plans with what we’ve been doing so far,” he said.
“We continue to work hard, not only with a view to the present, but also with the responsibility in this job to think about the future. That’s what we do.”
