Pokemon Go has kicked off its annual Spring event, which means select Pokémon will be wearing flower crowns.
It also means you have another collection challenge to complete, some limited research to complete, a new raid boss to fight, event bonuses to enjoy, and more fun things to do.
From today through Monday, April 18, new costumed Pokémon will be appearing during this event. You will find the adorable Togetic wearing a flower crown and if you evolve it you will get a Togekiss wearing a flower crown. If you happen to find a Buneary wearing a flower crown, evolving will give you a Lopunny wearing a flower crown. Not all Pokemon with hats or flower crowns can evolve, so take advantage of that.
If you’re lucky, you can also find a Shiny Togetic and Buneary in the wild.
The spring event will also see the arrival of the island’s tutelary deity, Ula’ula, the legendary Pokémon Tapu Bulu, which appears in five-star raids.
During this time you can enjoy 2× Hatch Candy, 1/2 Hatch Distance, 2× Lucky Egg Duration and Team Go Rocket Grunts have more Shadow Whismur and Shadow Exeggcute in their parties.
As for the collection challenge, over the next six days you’ll get a medal for catching the following Pokemon: Jigglypuff, Buneary Corolla, Eevee Corolla, Whismur, Chansey Corolla, Pikachu Corolla, Bunnelby, and both male and female female versions of Nidoran.
Completing the challenge will also grant you 2,000 XP, 2,000 Stardust, and an encounter with Togetic wearing a flower crown.
Various Pokémon will also hatch from Eggs during the event. In 2km Eggs you can find Corolla Pichu, Igglybuff, Azurill, Munchlax, Corolla Happiny, Corolla Togepi, Exeggcute, Chingling and Riolu. If you’re lucky, one might even be shiny – except Munchlax.
Field Research encounters will feature the following Pokémon: Eevee wears a Flower Crown, Pikachu wears a Flower Crown, Buneary wears a Flower Crown, and if you’re lucky, Chansey wears a Flower Crown. You can also find shiny versions of each.
You can also collect special research on the island of Ula’ula from today until June 1st. Throughout the season, you can complete various special research chains to learn more about each of the islands in Alola. If you complete them by June 1st, you’ll unlock an additional Special Research line at the end of the season.
These Collaborative Research Lines are available for pickup on specific dates starting at 10:00 am local time and ending at 10:00 am on June 1st. You can complete a research line at any time after obtaining it.
Restricted research day
This coming Saturday, April 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, you can earn limited research tasks when you spin a PokeStop. Complete them and you will come across Exeggcute. If you’re lucky, it may even be shiny. Speaking of the Exeggcute family, to celebrate the season of Alola, you can evolve Exeggcute during the event to get an Alolan Exeggcutor that knows the Charged Attack Draco Meteor. You will also receive 2x Catch XP during this time.
During the three hours of Limited Research Day, you can encounter the following Pokémon and their shiny versions in the wild: Bulbasaur, Oddish, Paras, Bellsprout, Tangela, Chikorita, Sunkern, Treecko, and Seedot.
