Pokemon Go Sustainability Week 2022 begins today with the debut of Oranguru, the Sage Pokémon

From today and until Monday April 25, Pokemon Go Trainers can participate in Sustainability Week and meet another Pokémon from the Alola region.

For the first time in Pokemon Go, you can also encounter Shiny Cherubi – if you’re lucky, go out and try to find one.

Sustainability Week quests allow you to participate in a nature-inspired collection challenge. Completing it contributes to your Elite Collector’s Medal, awarding you 10,000 XP, 15 Great Balls, and an encounter with Meganium.

The collection challenge will task you with collecting the following Pokémon: Cherubi, Gloom, Grimer, Weepinbell, Trubbish, and Grotle. Gloom and Weepinbell only spawn when a Mossy Lure Module is dropped. Thankfully, this week’s free event box includes one. Chikorita (can be shiny) and Sewaddle are also attracted to the bait. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter Alolan Diglett (can be Shiny), Bellossom, and Nincada (can be Shiny).

You shouldn’t have too much time finding most of the Pokemon, as they’ll appear more frequently in the wild alongside Oddish, Turtwig, Ferroseed, and Oranguru. If you’re lucky, you might also encounter Phantump and Venusaur, the latter of which could also be shiny.

Be sure to hatch your 7km Eggs as well, because the following Pokemon will hatch from them: Alolan Diglett (can be Shiny), Larvitar (can be Shiny), Cherubi (can be Shiny), and Oranguru.

Field research will also reward you with Pokemon encounters this week. These Pokemon are Turtwig, Cherubi, Snivy, Trubbish, Chespin, and Phantump. Some can even be shiny. You also get Mega Venusaur Energy and Mega Abomasnow Energy by completing tasks.

Here is the list of field research tasks this week:

  • Catch five types of grass: Earn a Chespin, Snivy, or Turtwig encounter
  • Walk 1km: Win a Cherubi encounter
  • Walk 3 km: Earn a Phantump encounter
  • Power up Pokémon five times: Earn 50 Mgea energy for either Abomasnow or Venusaur
  • Catch three Grimer: Gain a Trubbish encounter
  • Catch three Trubbish: Ear One Silver Pinap

You’ll also get 2x bonus XP when you spin a PokeStop for the first time.

This week also brings with it the next Community Day, starring Stufful. It will take place on Saturday, April 23 from 2pm to 5pm local time.

Timed Research is available during this period. Each stage requires you to be adventurous for 1km and this will earn you an encounter with Cherubi. Additionally, for every trainer who walks 5km on Community Day, Niantic will plant up to 100,000 trees as part of Sustainability Week.

Of course, there will also be a COMmunity day pass for the usual $1.00 (or equivalent in your local currency). This will give you access to the Stuffful Community Day exclusive special research story Strong Stuff.
