Pokemon Go’s 2022 Lunar New Year Event Begins With a Chance to Catch Shiny Littleo

Today is the start of Lunar New Year and Pokemon Go is participating in the festival with its annual event.
This year is the year of the Tiger, and Pokemon Go’s 2022 Chinese New Year event will appropriately focus on the cat Litleo.
If you’re lucky, you might even catch a shiny Littleo for the first time in the game.
The rewards of this event include increased chances of getting lucky Pokemon in trades and increased chances of becoming lucky friends, doubling Stardust when opening presents, and adding a special deal every day.
The following Pokemon will appear more often in the wild, and with luck you might even land a shiny one: Paras, Meowth, Growlithe, Voltorb, Hisuian Voltorb (not shiny), Magikarp, Torchic, Electabuzz, Gyarados and Combusken (not shiny).
The one-star raids will feature the following Pokemon: Magikarp, Shinx, Darumaka, Littleo, and Epurr. The three-star raids will feature Charizard, Flareon, Shuckle, Delcatty, Absol, and Druddagon. Regirock will be the star of the five-star raids (why not Raikou?), and the big raid will feature Houndoom.
Eggs 7km in the event will have a chance to hatch into Shuckle, Slugma, Darumaka, Scraggy and Littleo.
These Pokemon encounters will occur when you complete the Field Research Quest: Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Magikarp, Darumaka, Litleo, and Espurr. You can also complete some Field Research quests to earn Mega Energy for Gyarados.
Two timed research challenges centered around fishing and friendships will be available. Complete the Time Study to earn Littleo and Espurr.
Pokemon Go’s Lunar New Year event runs until February 8 at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET.
