Pokemon Go’s April Community Day returns to a three-hour event, Stars Stuffful

The April Pokemon Go Community Day will be the first Community Day event since the pandemic began, lasting just three hours instead of six.

According to Niantic, it’s moving back to a three-hour event, as apparently only 5% of players participate longer than three hours. Also, the company said people aren’t out at the same time as the longer event, which doesn’t appear to encourage a sense of community, with fewer people there at any one time to “play together and connect outside.”

“In 2020, we doubled the length of our Community Day events, increasing them from three to six hours,” Niantic said. “However, since then we have found that only five percent of our coaches attend the event for more than three hours.

“One of the biggest positive feedbacks we received after the three-hour Community Day Classic in January was that players and community leaders noticed how much more community was out and about during the event. We’re going back to the three-hour format. We hope this will give Trainers even more opportunities to play together and network outdoors while exploring.”

Niantic went on to say that it’s adding some “new and exciting” benefits to Stuffful Community Day as players enjoy the additional resources that can be gathered during longer events, allowing players to gather as many resources as they play.

This includes a group play bonus that unlocks additional bonuses in a specific location. If enough Pokémon are caught by trainers with a single bait, the 3x XP bonus for catching Pokémon near the lured PokeStop will increase to 4x XP for 30 minutes. Note that this does not stack with the base 3x Catch XP bonus, instead replacing it for the duration.

For Stufful Community Day is Saturday, April 23 from 2pm to 5pm local time. At that point, Stufful, the hitting Pokémon, will make its Pokemon GO debut. Stuffful will pop up in the wild, and if you’re lucky you might encounter a Shiny.

If you evolve Stuffful during the event or up to two hours after, you’ll get a wear that knows the Charged Attack Drain Punch. I suggest you use a gold pineapple on every single toss to earn more Catch Candies since 400 Candies are required to evolve Stuffful into Bewear.

Event bonuses include 3x Catch XP, 2x Catch Candy, 2x chance to get Stufful XL Candy by catching, Incense sticks that activate during the event last for three hours, and Lure Modules that activate during the event , keep three hours. You’ll want to snap a few snaps during Community Day to surprise yourself, and an additional special trade can be made during the event and two hours after the event, with a maximum of two for the day. Trades made during the event and two hours after the event require 50% less Stardust.

You can pick up the Community Day Special Research Story: Strong Stuff for $1.

There will also be a special one-time purchase Community Day Box for 850 PokeCoins containing 15 Ultra Balls, 15 Pineapple Berries, 1 Elite Fast TM and 1 Remote Raid Pass. A pack of 30 Ultra Balls is available for free in the shop.
