BMW has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to introduce a new all-electric car based on the power of Pikachu.
The new Mini Aceman was unveiled at Gamescom, one of the world’s largest gaming showcases, and presented in a giant toy box called the Action Pack.
This is a special take on the electric concept, with a Poké Ball for the steering wheel and wheels packaged separately.
Mini doesn’t just partner with Pikachu because of the car’s electric power.
The Aceman will also be compatible with gaming consoles, so you can play your favorite games inside.
However, it is not yet known which consoles it will be compatible with.
The car features a number of projectors both inside and outside.
These show various Pokémon motifs, including lightning, Poké Balls and of course the electric mouse Pikachu.
When you open the doors, a lightning bolt with the Mini X Pokémon logo will be projected onto the ground.
In Experience Mode, Pikachu takes over the dashboard and runs around to welcome you into the car.
You can interact with the Pokémon by pressing the screens.
The Aceman can also project onto the wall in front of it.
This gives drivers the drive-in cinema experience wherever there is a wall.
Mini boss Stefanie Wurst on the cooperation: “Gamification will play an increasingly important role in the Mini of the future and offer our customers a unique experience.
“In collaboration with Pokémon, the shared joy of the game brings together two iconic characters who are a perfect match for millions of fans.”
Mini also unveiled a Mini Metaverse at Gamescom, where contestants could drive their Mini Aceman around in a virtual world.
