Pokemon Legends: Arceus takes place in the Sinnoh region of Pokemon Diamonds and Pearl before it became known as Sinnoh and hundreds of years before the events of the fourth generation of Pokemon. Naturally, some locations have implications, such as Jubilife Village to Jubilife City, but what’s even more intriguing is the sheer number of NPCs that appear to be ancestors of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl characters.
Some similarities are more uncanny than others, and perhaps many more that require a trained eye to spot. But we’ve tracked down some of the most interesting ancestors of the Diamond and Pearl characters hidden in Arceus for you here.
Small savings for Pokemon Legends: Arceus characters and the story below.
The first and most obvious person you’re likely to encounter is Captain Cyllene, the head of Team Galaxy’s Survey Team. If you’ve played Diamond, Pearl, or the recent remakes, she’ll immediately recognize you as the distant ancestor of the villains in those games and the leader of Team Galactic: Cyrus. Luckily, she’s not a villain in Legends: Arceus, and in fact, she’s always ready to assist players despite her cold demeanor.
The second character that you can immediately recognize is Kamado, the serious and reliable head of Team Galaxy. Kamado bears a striking resemblance to Diamond and Pearl’s Professor Rowan, and like Rowan is very interested in the player completing the Pokedex.
The first warden you meet, Mai, is tasked with keeping an eye on the Wyrdeer in the Obsidian Fieldlands and wielding the Munchlax. She looks a lot like Marley, one of the trainers that joins players in Diamond and Pearl to traverse a specific area – namely Victory Road and Battle Tower.
Meanwhile, Kleavor’s Warden, Lian, would look instantly familiar due to his hat, hair, and expression, but surprisingly none of his descendants have been found in Diamond and Pearl. Instead, he looks a lot like Clay, the Driftveil City Gym team leader in Black and White / Black and White 2 and a ground expert.
The two don’t have any other obvious connection, as Lian uses the dragon-type Goomy, but the resemblance is clear.
In Crimson Mirelands, you can immediately recognize the stylish Arezu as the ancestor of Mars, one of the Commanders for Diamond and Pearl’s Galaxy Team. You can also find the ancestors of your Galaxy of Mars companion, Saturn, as part of a trio of bandits you meet in the same region. Check out Coin’s hair – it resembles that of Saturn.
The Miss Fortunes trio of bandits is entirely made up of Diamond and Pearl Ancestors. Charm looks a lot like Bertha, a member of the ground-type Elite Four from Sinnoh, and Clover is the ancestor of the Snowpoint Gym Leader and the Candice ice expert.
In Alabaster Icelands, Braviary Warden Sabi looks a little familiar as Cheryl’s distant parent, another companion character who journeys with you through the Eterna Forest in Diamond and Pearl.
There are a few NPCs around Jubilife Village that also have Diamonds and Pearls. For example, Colza, who runs a berry farm, is exactly like Eterna City Gym Leader, Gardenia.
Pesselle, who entrusts you with quests related to Pokemon medicine and healing, is apparently the ancestor of Sinnoh’s Nurse Joy clan that runs Pokemon Centers (and even alludes to that future in the comics. her dialogue).
And Ginter, one of the merchants of the Ginko Guild, was a silver-haired man who looked like the Sunyshore Gym Leader and the Volkner electrical expert.
It’s worth mentioning that Warden Ingo is here, although he’s not exactly anyone’s ancestor. In fact, his situation was much stranger. While you might not recognize Ingo immediately if you don’t join the Battle Subway in Black and White / Black and White 2, he assumes he has traveled through time and space just like the protagonist. did.
As it turns out, this is Ingo, one of the leaders of Battle Subway, along with his twin brother Emmet. Sadly, Ingo was separated from both his brother and his Pokemon when he traveled back through time.
One of the strangest mysteries about Hisui is the fact that the Cynthia Diamond and Pearl Champion is not one but two seemingly unrelated ancestors in Legends: Arceus, but both have their own charms. amazingly like her.
The first person you will meet soon is Volo. Much later in the game, you’ll be fighting Volo, and you can see that most of his Pokemon team resembles Cynthia, minus her Milotic (which isn’t in Legends: Arceus). The two characters also share a fascination with the ancient history of Sinnoh/Hisui.
But another character that appears much later in the game, Cogita, also looks a lot like Cynthia and has some similar concerns about the distant past. We’ve never seen Cogita fight, so it’s hard to get an idea of her Pokemon team, although she does seem to have some connection to Legendary Pokemon.
Both Cogita and Volo have strange and mysterious origins that are never fully explained, and Cogita in particular is timeless in appearance and well-dressed in a way that might connect her to Cynthia.
Finally, there is the main character himself. Dubbed Akari (girl) or Rei (boy), they correspond to Dawn and Lucas, the two main characters of Diamond and Pearl. But it’s unclear how they are related, especially with the time travel plot.
It is possible that the player is actually *is* Dawn or Lucas, who was transported to the past by Arceus at the start of the game, or they could be someone from an alternate timeline or universe who was brought back as the last ancestor by Dawn or Lucas.
There are a number of other characters that bear a slightly less obvious resemblance to characters that appear in other Pokemon games and can be envisioned as their ancient ancestors. For example, Team Galaxy’s Sanqua looks a lot like Karen, an Elite Four member from Pokemon Gold and Silver, but that connection is a bit less obvious, and there are others. Legend: Arceus seems to have intended all of these similarities to be mostly easter eggs rather than directly admitting any of them, so feel free to hypothesize fan your grave in the comments section.
