Pokémon Legends: Arceus may be on track to become the second best-selling switching game

Pokémon Legend: Arceus is the second best selling Switch game in Japan and has a chance to win the same globally.

According to new figures reported by Famitsu, actual sales of Pokémon Legends: Arceus reached 1.43 million copies within three days of its release in Japan. This number falls slightly behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the best-selling game in Japan thanks to grossing 1.88 million copies in three days.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl has sold nearly 1.4 million copies, and Sword and Shield has increased 1.36 million in the same period.

Sales figures for other territories have yet to be released, but other numbers give good signs that Pokémon Legends: Arceus could also be the second best-selling Switch game globally. Just a few days ago, it was reported that Arceus is the fourth biggest Pokémon retail launch of all time in the UK, at least as far as actual sales are concerned. It debuted at number one in the UK sales charts, and accounted for almost 50% of box sales for the week.

Figures from NPD, which tracks sales in the US, should help further clarify the performance of Pokémon Legends: Arceus once they’re released.
