Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Evolve Primeape

WHILE Gen 2 had a handful of new Pokémon evolutions in the new games, Gen 1 treated Primeape the same way.

Dunsparce and Girafarig have long been single-stage Pokemon that need a bit more mass.

But Primeape was already a second tier that people could use on their teams.

If you want to evolve your Primeape in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, here’s how.

Where can I find Primeape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

You can catch a Primeape in the wild or evolve a Mankey to get one.

Wild Mankey are more common and can be found along the west coast of the Paldea region. They can also be found southeast of Mesagoza.

Primeape can be found to the northwest of the Great Crater and also in a small patch of grass to the far northeast in the Tagtree Thicket.

Mankey has a better catch rate than Primeape, potentially making it the easier option. It evolves into Primeape at level 28.

Move-based evolutions are back, and Primeape learns his new signature move at level 35.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have the built in XP percentage so it gains experience even if it’s just in your party.

It will gain more experience as it enters battle, but it will still gain some experience when you catch a Pokemon.

Raids also reward you with experience candies, which you can use to quickly level up your Pokémon.

How to learn Rage Fist in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

At level 35, Primeape can learn his signature Rage Fist attack. This is necessary to develop it.

If you missed teaching Rage Fist, you can still teach it from the Select Moves menu.

Once you learn the move, you must use it 20 times in combat before you can evolve.

You’ll have to keep track of that yourself, but the train only has 10 PP, making counting easier.

It can be used on any Pokemon, in or out of trainer battles, but keep in mind that it won’t work on regular types.
