Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The five best Pokémon for the Cinderace raid

Following the success of the Charizard raids, The Pokémon Company has announced that the next seven star raid will be Cinderace.
Cinderace is the final form of the Fire-type starter in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Like the last raid, you can only catch one Cinderace, but you can try the raid multiple times.
Here are the best Pokémon for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Cinderace raid.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Everything We Know About Cinderace
Cinderace will appear in raids over two weekends. The first is Friday 30 December 2022,until Sunday 1 January 2023.
The second series of raids takes place from Friday, January 13, 2023 until Sunday January 15, 2023.

It appears in your game once per day, but you can join other people’s raids as many times as you want.
We know it will come with that Fighting Tera guybut everything else is speculative.
Cinderace doesn’t have a lot of coverage moves, but it does have Electro Ball, so we think this matchup could be based around a speed advantage.
Gunk Shot could also negate the chance of bringing Fairy-types, so we’ve given a number of mons that could be used as a counter.
Here’s what we think the stats look like:
The Mightiest Cinderace – Level 100
- Nature – Stubborn
- capability – Libero
- article – None
- Tera type – Battle
- Is moving – Pyroball, Counterattack, Change Places, Sunny Day, Electroball, Flame Charge, Low Sweep
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The five best Pokémon for Cinderace
Cinderace will have a variety of Fire and Fighting-type attacks, but we also predict that Electro Ball will counter Water- and Flying-type counters.
Counter is also very likely to be used, so physical attacks should be avoided at all costs.
Court Change is probably going to be the most annoying move here as it trades stats with its opponent.
As such a Pokemon with mockery or Deactivate is recommended, or a Fairy-type that Cinderace won’t have strong counters to.
Gardevoir
The first Pokemon we thought of was Gardevoir for its 4x Battle Resistance. It also has decent Speed stat to negate Electro Ball.
Gardevoir has an impressive array of support and healing moves to keep himself and others alive and prevent taking too much damage.
It also gains Sync, which can halve Cinderella’s Attack without affecting your Attack stats.
Here is the set we recommend:
Gardevoir – Level 100
- Nature – Fat, HP and defense invested
- capability – Synchronize
- article – Large Root (+Saping Kiss) / Clear Amulet (+Stored Power) / Light Clay
- Tera type – Psychic (or Fairy)
- Is moving – Taunt, Reflect, Life Dew (Teams) / Draining Kiss (Solo), Moonblast (Fairy-tera) / Psychic (Psychic-tera)
- Alternate Move Set – Taunt, Reflect, Calm, Stored Power
flutter mane
Flutter Mane suffers from the same problem as Gardevoir in that it isn’t strong defensively but has a number of advantages.
The Ghost-type is immune to Fighting-type moves and has strong Special Defense against Electro Ball.
Flutter Mane also has a number of strong support options and can be a powerful attacker.
It will also benefit if Cinderace ever charges Sunny Day with a special attack boost.
Fluttermane – Level 100
- Nature – Fat, HP and defense invested
- capability – Protosynthesis
- article – Clear Amulet
- Tera type – Fairy (for attack) Spirit (for defense)
- Is moving – Fake Tears, Wish / Taunt, Calm Mind, Stored Power (Ghost-tera) / Moonblast (Fairy-tera)
Sylveon
Many people have used Sylveon in the Charizard raid, and it’s not a bad choice here either.
However, Pixelate is the ability you want to aim for here, as the Tera Shield negates Cute Charm’s effect.
Sylveon is a little slow, which could mean he’s suffering from Electro Ball, but he has a hefty Special Defense stat to help him out.
This Sylveon will not have the ability to heal, so it should be paired with a support mon to help with that.
We recommend the following:
Sylveon – level 100
- Nature – Fat, HP and defense invested
- capability – pixels
- article – Ability Shield
- Tera type – Fairy
- Is moving – Reflect, Fake Tears, Calm Mind (Soli) / Helping Hand (Teams), Hyper Beam
Rotom fan
Rotom Fan has a number of advantages over its Fairy-type counterparts. Its Electric typing makes it resistant to Electro Ball, and it has good Defense, Speed, and a Special Attack.
It also learns a number of support moves that help the team and has the Flight type which is very effective against Fighter types.
Here is our recommended set:
Rotom Fan – Level 100
- Nature – Modest, HP and defense invested
- capability – Hover
- article – Clear Amulet
- Tera type – Electric (or Psychic)
- Is moving – Reflect, Rain Dance, Nasty Plot, Stored Power / Air Slash
pelipper
Pelipper is a sleeper hit, but won’t be worth much if Cinderace uses Electro Ball.
This can be negated by getting some early hits and then using Ground-tera. It also has bulky defenses to help.
With its Drizzle ability and powerful moves like Hurricane, this is a good choice for experienced players.
Here are our recommendations:
Pelipper – level 100
- Nature – Shy, HP and Special Defense invested
- capability – Drizzle
- article – Ability Shield
- Tera type – Floor
- Is moving – Hurricane, Stockpile, Helping Hand (Teams) / Rain Dance (Solo), Roost
