Police and Fire Brigade respond to Eastbourne incident
Emergency services evacuated homes late Saturday night following reports of a fire at a neighboring store.
Several fire engines rushed to the scene after smoke filled the shop on Grove Road in Eastbourne.
After inspecting the All Things Analogue store, the fire and police services on site concluded that the smoke was caused by a smoke machine. The machine was intended to deter burglars, but it malfunctioned and accidentally set off the fire alarm.
A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said they were called to the incident at 10.45pm on Saturday December 10 after an automatic fire alarm went off.
Upon inspection, they found that the alarm had been set off by a smoke machine intended to deter burglars. After investigations, the emergency services came to the conclusion that there was no fire at 11:05 p.m.
Three fire pumps participated in the incident, which turned out to be a false alarm.
