After an accident in which a racing driver was seriously injured, the POLICE asked for information.
Officers received a report of a collision between a van and a cyclist on the A259 near East Dean around 5.20pm on Tuesday.
The cyclist was later identified as Brighton racer Jack Bartholomew, who was cycling as part of his training programme.
The ambulance was called but not needed as Jack was stabilized and conscious on the side of the road.
The 23-year-old, who competes for Richardson Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, was taken by road to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
He sustained multiple injuries, including a broken collarbone, fractured ribs and a punctured lung, but is said to be out of danger.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the crash to come forward.
A spokesman said: “Anyone with dashcam footage or information regarding the collision can email Collision.firstname.lastname@example.org and quote the price of surgery.”
