Police arrested her on Monday January 16 on Rathdowne Street in Carlton, Australia.
She said in the TikTok video: “You say you learn something new every day.
“And today I learned that it is illegal to drive through a yellow light unless it is 100% necessary.
“There were police sirens, I was stopped in front of Florian – mind you if you’re from Melbourne you know that was embarrassing.
“Everyone eats salmon gravlax and tomato tartan while getting the show of their lives.”
She was then tested for drugs and breath while “roaring her eyes out.”
Unfortunately, Lucinda McGarrity was fined $500, which is about £280 in the UK.
She ended the video by saying, “Don’t drive through yellow lights anyway.”
The video had more than 54,800 views and nearly 3,000 comments.
TikTok users in the comments were divided.
One said: “Fight the penalty, it’s so extreme. Try to get out of there!”
But another person said: “How did you get your license without knowing that?
“Why does everyone focus on the fine, FFS people they don’t know, basic traffic rules!!”
A third said: “How do they justify such a large fine for such a small offence.”
