Pope Francis adds ‘a little tequila’ to doctor’s prescription to heal a bad knee

Doctors have prescribed a wheelchair, cane and physical therapy to heal Pope Francis’ ailing knee. He has other ideas.

According to viral video of the pope at the end of a recent audience, Francis quipped that he really needs a shot of tequila for the pain.

Francis was driving the Popemobile in St. Peter’s Square when he stopped near a group of Mexican seminarians who asked him in his native Spanish, Spanish, how his knee was.

After he replied that it was “capricious,” they told Francis they admired his ability to smile despite the pain and that he was a role model for future priests like themselves.

“Do you know what I need for my knee?” Franz asked her. “Some tequila.”

The seminarians laughed and promised to bring a bottle to the Hotel Santa Marta where Francis lives.
