The latest series’ twist will see foodies join other kitchens, in an attempt to claim the title of best independent restaurant in town.

Voice King Dave Lamb will oversee the proceedings as restaurant owners dine in the eyes of Come Dine With Me: The Professionals competitors.

Producer Tim Carter, from MultiStory Media, said: “For 15 glorious years, we’ve celebrated the culinary creations and epic failures that come from the nation’s home kitchens.

“Now that they’ve recovered from losses over the past few years, Come Dine With Me cheers up UK restaurants with customary love for the culinary endeavor.”

Over 2,000 episodes of the much-loved original have aired, along with a spin-off series, Couples come to dine with me.

A source said: “Viewers love it program authenticity, whether it’s a dinner and glare when they fail in the kitchen or when they try to suppress their emotions after losing.

“We expected that less in The Professionals – but who knows?

“The stakes are higher as the location’s reputation has deepened – and local competitors may already exist.”

Each episode will feature three local eateries competing for the win plus a cash prize split among all staff.

The restaurants will be represented by a partnership of two parties – owners and chefs, for example – who will greet their rivals with a meal they hope will impress.

Dinner takes place in a casual evening, so guests will have the opportunity to discover the atmosphere, the food and the service.

At the end of each meal, the away team will give the evening a score of 20.

A representative for MultiStory Media said: “We look forward to traveling across the country to meet some of the UK’s finest chefs and restaurateurs.”

Joy with opera for Will

WILL Young’s time as Lionfish on The Masked Singer gave him a taste for classical music.

The singer, who rose to fame winning Pop Idol 20 years ago, became the third celebrity to be revealed in ITV’s guessing game last Saturday, after performing the opera classic Nessun Dorma and country version of I Will Always Love You.

He told Lorraine Kelly on her show yesterday: “It’s been fun and I really want to say this – I’m so proud of myself.

“That was one of the highlights of my career, singing Nessun Dorma, because when will I ever get a chance to sing classical music on TV?

“It’s one of the things I’ve always wanted to do – it’s on my list. I’ve done a lot of stuff, but I haven’t done a single classic record.”

Last year Will made headlines when he handcuffed himself in front of a dog center in Cambridgeshire to protest against laboratory testing on animals.

He told Lorraine: “I said, don’t feel hopeless. We are living in a democracy. Peaceful, direct protest can work. ”

Jack’s sister, Rebecca Ryan, recently joined him on the show playing Lydia Chambers, so he took her on a tour.

He said: “I showed her the toilet and the canteen and – bang! – That is so that.

“Corrie’s canteen is top notch. It’s very good, better than Emmerdale’s but don’t tell them that.

“She doesn’t need much advice from me.

“But I told her to enjoy it because everyone is great.

“I know how well she would fit into it.”
