Power outages hit parts of Brighton and Hove overnight

HUNDREDS of people were without power for hours after a power outage.

Around 250 properties in Brighton and Hove and parts of Surrey and North Kent had to have their power cut around 9.20pm last night (27 July).

UK Power Networks said it received dozens of calls about the outage.

A local resident said Montpelier Road in Brighton appeared to have lost all power, but the outage appeared to be affecting only a few roads in the area.

He said: “It’s surreal but also quite cozy. Power outages are always weird, but lighting some candles is always nice.”

The power outage was caused by a fault in an underground power cable.

Power was restored to homes and other properties just after midnight this morning.
