The Premier League uses a company called Prenetics for Covid testing.
And it has a pretty good record of effectiveness with very few recorded false positives.
While the majority of clubs use Prenetics, the Premier League allows different companies to offer testing.
SunSport can reveal that Liverpool outsourced their testing to a local company ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, which was postponed due to a large number of false positives.
The number of false positives – including Jurgen Klopp and assistant Pep Lijnders – doubled.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only player believed to have actually signed Covid.
Liverpool will not be investigated by the EFL although other clubs are unhappy about the situation. And although the club will argue it is not their fault, it is not a situation that reflects well on Liverpool.
Maybe now they will switch companies and use Prenetics like other clubs.

ARSENAL have made the somewhat odd decision to cut defender Harry Clarke’s loan short in the Scottish Premiership – before sending him back to a team in the same League.
Clarke is one of the few Arsenal loanees to have performed well this season, having impressed for Ross County in 17 appearances.
That fine form even led to Glasgow Rangers trying to sign him long-term.
But Arsenal ended his loan spell at Ross County and instead of being able to give him full Championship, sent Clarke back to the Premiership to play for Hibs.
Arsenal may have their reasons, but loaning a player to two clubs in the same League – in the same season – is extremely unusual.
REFS and their assistants in the Premier League need support to ensure football matches go on without any major Covid issues.
Despite all the problems at the clubs, since the coronavirus crisis began, only a handful of positive tests have required a last-minute change of officials.
And it was some effort when there were 22 Referees Pick 1 and 28 assistant referees.
The Premier League can also summon up to 18 full-time Select Group 2 referees, who are in charge of EFL games but also sometimes act as the fourth official in the Premier League.
In addition to regular checks, referees have been advised to be extra careful as they go about their daily lives.
The Premier League, where possible, has cut down on the number of referees staying in hotels before matches.
