British sandwich chain Pret A Manger is expanding into Ireland with 20 planned stores in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The expansion follows an agreement with franchise partner Carebrook Partnership Ltd, owned by Nenagh-born Gerard Loughran, who runs Pret franchises in London including Camden, Belsize Park and Finchley, along with minority co-owner Ray McNamara , who has over 25 years experience in the pret sector in Ireland, including ownership of Ann’s Bakery in Dublin.
The plan calls for opening 20 Pret stores over the next decade and creating about 500 jobs. The first store is due to open on Dublin’s Dawson Street this summer and will create 25 jobs in the city.
Pret Managing Director Pano Christou said: “It has long been our plan to open a store in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and we are delighted that we can finally make it happen. Our neighbors on the island of Ireland have long been asking to bring Pret’s freshly made food and organic coffee and now with the support of Carebrook Partnership Ltd. can we do this We look forward to making this partnership a success.”
