Prince Andrew claims sexual assault forced York to rename famous £100,000 race

YORK Racecourse is moving quickly to remove all links with Prince Andrew – by rebranding one of their most popular racecourses.

Duke of York County gets a different name this year, according to Yorkshire Post.

They say the racecourse bosses are eager to end all links with the Prince because of his links to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

York’s director of marketing and sponsorship, James Brennan, said the race title had nothing to do with Prince Andrew.

But the Queen’s second son, 61, is a patron of the racecourse and is regularly seen at their big summer meetings such as Ebor.

Brennan said: “With that in mind, though, we’ll explore how we can make the name much clearer about its history – and that the name refers to a Duke of York entirely. is different.”

The race was originally named for King George V, who died in 1936, and has, according to Brennan, ‘never been directly about Prince Andrew’.

However, they can be thwarted by red tape, with every race name having to be approved by the European Commission of Ordination.

Prince Andrew is stripped of his royal title and all of the Queen’s military honors last week.

The Duke will also no longer be able to use ‘His Royal Highness’ – and will face his US lawsuit as a ‘private citizen’, meaning he can’t hide behind the perks of the royal family.

That royal decision comes after a judge ordered a civil trial in New York later this year.

Prince Andrew has been accused of sexually assaulting Virginia Robert Giuffre when she was just 17 years old.

The royal, 61, denies any wrongdoing.
