Prince Andrew ‘made his maid play hide and seek with his teddy bear’

CAUSE Andrew will play hide and seek with his teddy bears – despite being almost 40, a former housekeeper at Buckingham Palace has revealed.

He often asks the maid to hide one of his stuffed toys if he goes out for the night.

The Duke of York will then try to find it when he returns.

Janette McGowan, who worked at Buckingham Palace from 1999 to 2000, recalls the game Andrew would play – when he was 39.

The former housekeeper, 65, who lives near Edinburgh, told The Sun: “It was a little game he would play with his maid.

“She will hide one of the teddy bears somewhere you wouldn’t expect, like a bathroom cupboard.

“When he returns to the Palace, he will have to try to find it.

“It’s a little odd but it’s very tongue in the cheek.

“He used to find it very funny. His regular maid says it’s just something she’s always done.”

This week, it was reported that the demanding Duke ordered the giddy to arrange five strollers and soft toys in specific locations on his bed each night.

Janette remembers that 40 to 50 of them would be piled up in his bed during the day, only to be moved every night.

“My recollection is that there was a Polaroid picture of how the teddy bears would have to be placed in the nightstand drawer,” she said.
