Prince Andrew is being mocked by staff at Buckingham Palace, who have adapted an old nursery rhyme based on his £12million court settlement, it has been claimed.

The Duke of York has agreed to pay large sums to avoid a court date after Virginia Giuffre claimed he trafficked and raped her when she was underage.

The disgraced royal, yesterday 62, denied any wrongdoing and claimed he had never met the accuser – who said they were acquainted through the late Duke of Jeffrey Epstein’s close friend.

Palace aides are said to have put on a new season of The Grand Old Duke of York, which deals with his refusals to meet Ms Giuffre, the Sunday Times reports.

They sang: “The great old Duke of York, he has 12 million quids.

“He gave it to someone he’d never met, for something he’d never done.”

In a car crash interview with BBC’s Emily Maitlis on Newsnight in 2019, Andrew said he had “no recollection” of meeting victims of human trafficking.

This is despite a photograph – believed to have been taken in London in 2001 – in which he is seen with his arm around 17-year-old Giuffre, as convicted trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell stands in the back scene.

The duke had previously claimed that the photo was a fake.

Ms. Guiffre alleges Andrew had sex with her three times while she was under the age of majority under US law.

The royal told Ms Maitlis he had no regrets about his friendship with Epstein, and received backlash due to the allegations against the late financier.

But sources close to him have now told the Sunday Times that he “really regrets that he ever got involved with Epstein”.

They added: “He deeply regrets it, especially for the impact it has had on his mother and his family.”

The same sources say the £12m settlement figure is “in the millions”.

Andrew is said to have visited the Queen every night

It comes after it was claimed Andrew had secretly visited the Queen at Windsor Castle every night because of darkness.

He is said to have discussed the settlement as well as his future role in the Company, having been stripped of his titles and military ranks in the scandal.

It is also reported that Andrew has apologized to his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as the Queen herself.

The future king, Prince Charles is said to have ordered his younger brother to avoid being photographed in public and possibly to be deposed from the Royal Lodge once he ascends the throne.

However, it is reported that Andrew will make a public appearance at a thanksgiving service for his late father Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey next month.

It has yet to be decided if he will be able to attend the Queen’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral in June, as the monarch is pondering Andrew’s future.
