Prince Andrew wants HRH status BACK ‘because he’s Prince of Blood’

The Duke of York was stripped of his royal titles and official duties earlier this year over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and the sexual assault allegations that have been settled

Prince Andrew has reportedly asked the Queen to restore his HRH status as ‘Blood Prince’.

The Duke of York stepped down from royal duties earlier this year following a sex scandal.

He denied the allegations against him and later settled out of court with his accuser. The settlement is not an admission of guilt.

In January, ahead of his court settlement in the case, the Queen stripped Andrew of his honorary military posts, including colonel in the Grenadier Guards, and he relinquished his style as His Royal Highness.

But the Duke of York, the Queen’s second eldest son, is keen to have his recognition as ‘Prince of Blood’ returned in order to be able to attend official events with members of the royal family.

He has also asked for the monarch to be reinstated as a Colonel in the Grenadier Guards.

A source said telegraph : “The most important thing for him is his status as HRH and Prince of the Blood, and he believes that this should be restored and his position recognized and respected.”

Traditionally, all of the monarch’s children are entitled to HRH status.

It comes after Prince Charles and Prince William lobbied the Queen to prevent Prince Andrew from being given a public role in what is now the Order of the Garter service in Windsor.

The couple are said to have concerns about a public backlash should the Duke return to royal duties amid his civil case with Virginia Giuffre and ties to dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The Duke of York remains ninth in line to the throne and is also reportedly keen for his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, to become working royals.

His last public engagement was when he accompanied the Queen to a thanksgiving service for Prince Philip in March.

He missed the platinum jubilee celebrations and was due to join the wider royal family at a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral before testing positive for Covid.

Andrew, who is a Knight of the Garter, was originally scheduled to attend the annual service at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle along with senior members of the royal family.

But The Sun said the heirs to the throne, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge, had swayed the Queen on the issue.

Senior royals feared a “backlash,” the newspaper said, adding that Charles and William are said to have agreed on their course of action before telling the Queen, who made the final decision.
