Prince Andrew’s trial will cause ‘huge embarrassment’ for Queen unless royal settles out of court, expert says

CAUSE Andrew will likely pay rape accuser Virginia Roberts to avoid any embarrassment to the Queen, a royal expert has said.

Leading commentator Phil Dampier told The Sun Online he believes the Duke of York will try to stop the incident with an out-of-court settlement to save his 95-year-old mother.

The author adds that he believes Andrew – often described as the Queen’s favorite son – is “over” and will likely be stripped of his military patronage.

It came like today the judge sensationally ruled against Andrew after he tried to use a $500,000 defense settlement between Virginia and paedo Jeffrey Epstein to prevent legal action against him.

The duke is being sued for allegedly sexually abusing her accuser when she was just 17 years old.

The decision is a blow to the Duke, who has already been damaged by questions about his friendship with difficult couple Epstein and his “pimp” Ghislaine Maxwell.

Andrew vehemently denies all the charges against him – and claims he has no recollection of meeting Virginia.

Mr Dampier told The Sun Online: “This is very bad news for him – it means he will likely have to settle out of court as in 97% of civil cases in the US.

“There’s always the risk that if he pays Virginia Roberts, someone else could show up and make the same claim but that might be a risk he has to take.”

He continued: “I can’t see now how to deal with this without causing great embarrassment to the Royal and Queen during her Platinum Jubilee. [year].

“That’s something they’re going to want to avoid. I don’t think they’ll say anything publicly – I think it’s all going to be dealt with privately but I did think his lawyers seem to have mumbled. claim that an out-of-court settlement may be their only way forward.

“And I think that’s his only option right now – he can fight it in court but obviously he has to take the risk that it could cost him more if he loses.”

More than a week ago, Andrew’s attorneys presented their efforts to dismiss the long-awaited lawsuit.

And after eight days of deliberation, the bomb blast announcement was made today just after 2:15 pm.

What we know about this case:

  • Royals face some bombshell claim from accuser Virginia Roberts
  • She alleges she was forced to have sex with him three times after being trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell
  • He is strong deny any wrongdoing and even said that they’ve never met
  • Andrew denies her description of an encounter by saying he can’t sweat
  • Experts say Andrew could try to settle out of court and could lose his royal title

The case is the most significant legal action against a member of the Royal Family in recent memory – and comes after years of allegations against the Duke.

Mr Dampier told The Sun Online: “I think he’s done as a working royal.

“It has been suggested that he will try to return this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands but it is not the beginning for him the way things are going.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he lost his military patronage.”

Judge Lewis A Kaplan agreed, saying Prince Andrew’s request for the torpedo in the case “was denied in every respect”.

He said the 2009 agreement could not be “proved, unambiguously and unequivocally” that the parties intended “to benefit Prince Andrew”.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether Andrew will give direct evidence, via a video link, or refuse to participate.

Virginia claims she was trafficked by the sick duo to be abused by Andrew after meeting him at a London nightclub.

It is alleged that she was taken back to Ghislaine’s house when she was forced to have sex with the royal family, who was 41 years old at the time.

He also claimed he was unaware of any wrongdoing by his friends Maxwell and Epstein.

Andrew could face a trial that could see him put on trial in a US court impeached – and a fast-paced parade of witnesses regarding the charges.

Virginia’s lawsuit is the first time Andrew has faced action against her claims – which she first went public in 2011.

Speaking to Mr Brettler, the judge said: “You know, it’s certainly my duty to accept the well-substantiated factual allegations of the complaint.”

He said, reading from the allegations: “During this encounter, Epstein, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew forcing the plaintiff, a child, to have sex with Prince Andrew against her will”.

The judge added: “I must assume the truth of this allegation.”

Andrew has repeatedly denied all charges against him, which include rape in the first level, and his attorney claimed his accuser had “a tendency to change her story”.

They have also previously warned that she may be creating “false memories” with her claims.

Virginia, now 38, claims she was drawn in by the Duke of York’s close friend Maxwell and lured into paedo Epstein’s sick sex pyramid scheme.

She alleges she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times – in London, New York and on Epstein’s Little St James island.

Her legal team argued that she was a “fearful, vulnerable child with no one there to protect” when she was accused of abuse by Andrew, saying “nobody, not even the President or Prince, above the law”.

Andrew was named as the sole defendant in the lawsuit, which was brought under the New York State Child Victims Act, but Epstein and Maxwell are mentioned frequently throughout.

She is seeking unspecified compensation and punitive damages over the charges.

Virginia claims she feared for her life when she was allegedly forced to have sex with Andrew, who was allegedly aware of her age and status as a “sex trafficking victim”.

Court documents allege that Ms Giuffre was lent by convicted sex offender Epstein “for sexual purposes, even while she was still a minor under US law.

The documents add that the alleged assault “caused, and continues to cause, substantial mental and psychological distress and harm to her”.

“Prince Andrew’s actions, described above, constitute an extreme and outrageous conduct that is shocking to the conscience,” the lawsuit states, as it describes the emotional suffering Ms Giuffre has endured. .

“The sexual abuse of a child by Prince Andrew who he knew was a victim of sex trafficking, and when he was approximately 40 years old, exceeded all possible limits and could not be tolerated in a civilized community,” it added.

In a popular Newsnight interview with the BBC’s Emily Maitlis in November 2019, Andrew denied claims he had slept with Ms Giuffre and said he had “no recollection” of ever meeting her.

He also said he no longer remembers the famous photo of himself with his arm around Virginia’s waist at Maxwell’s home, and has questioned whether the photo has been edited.

The aftermath of the interview saw the royal being criticized for showing a lack of empathy for Epstein’s victims and a lack of remorse over his friendship with the disgraced financier.

Andrew has previously pledged to assist in any investigation into his former friend, but there has been a protracted war of words between his team and US prosecutors over the level of support he offers. provided them.

Epstein hanged himself in his cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

And meanwhile Maxwell faces the possibility of spending the rest of her life in prison after she is convicted for her role in the conspiracy.
