Prince Harry briefs Queen on Team UK

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been invited to perform on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The reports are another sign that olive branches have been extended between the couple and the remaining royal family, and another step towards restoring their relationship.

Harry and Meghan have spent most of their time in California with their children since stepping down from their duties as senior royals in 2020.

Harry’s relationship with his family has been strained since Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, when Harry expressed his “disappointment” in his father.

He claimed Charles cut him off financially and refused to take his calls.

In the chat, Harry claimed that William and Charles were “trapped” in the royal family system after being asked by Oprah if his older brother wanted to leave the company.

However, olive branches appear to have been spread from both sides recently as the couple paid a secret visit to the Queen and Prince Charles en route to Holland for the Invictus Games in recent days.

And now, The Telegraph has reported that the couple have been invited to join the rest of the royal family for the traditional balcony appearance to watch an RAF fly by on June 2nd.

The invitation also includes family celebrations such as a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral during the anniversary.

This marks Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary on the throne.

However, the couple will not play a formal role in the celebrations, the newspaper said, as they are not senior working royals.

The Queen, who will celebrate her 96th birthday on Thursday, is unlikely to make extensive public appearances herself during the anniversary as she is increasingly frail.

The monarch has missed events such as yesterday’s traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle due to mobility issues.

According to Telegraph reports, it was hoped that the Queen could at least take part in the Trooping the Color procession and appear on the balcony alongside her family.

Question marks surround whether Harry and Meghan will be present at the anniversary celebrations since they failed to attend a memorial service in Prince Philip’s honor last month.
