Could Prince Harry rejoin the monarchy as a working royal in the future?

Prince Harry may be ready to rejoin a slimmed down monarchy as Prince William and Kate Middleton are already “under pressure”, according to an expert.

Tina Brown, author of The Palace Papers, claims the royal family “will need Harry back” after he leaves the firm as a working member.

The royal expert believes Prince Charles and Prince William will try to involve the Duke of Sussex in the future to relieve the firm of its enormous workload, the reports Daily Star.

Speaking on the Guardian’s Today in Focus podcast, the biographer said “there is a lot of effort going on” to draw attention to the Charles heir and the Cambridges.

Asked how the smaller company is starting to look, Ms Brown said: “It’s looking a bit skeletal because they shouldn’t lose Andrew or Harry, so that’s a bit of an issue for the stripped-down monarchy at the moment.

“I think there is undue pressure on the Cambridges at the moment to essentially close the gap for Harry and Andrew.

“And I think at some point they’re going to need Harry back, especially likely after the Queen died because he was an asset.”

For many years there has been speculation about Prince Charles’ vision of a slimmer and more affordable royal family, but the Prince of Wales has never commented on his modern vision for the company.

Evidence of the dwindling royal family was evident during the anniversary, when the Prince of Wales and Queen accompanied only by Charles, his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry at the balcony.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were considered part of Charles’ vision of the future monarchy, Prince Harry and his wife retired as working members of the firm in late March 2020.

They have since embarked on a new path in California, where they have relocated with their son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
