Prince Harry left Balmoral 12 hours after arriving after the Queen’s death.
The Duke of Sussex was seen leaving the royal residence in the Scottish Highlands around 8.15am on Friday in a two-car convoy driving past flowers laid in tribute to his late grandmother.
Two dark colored Range Rovers arrived at Aberdeen International Airport just over an hour later at around 9.20am, led by five police motorcycles.
Harry’s father, King Charles III, was also seen leaving for Aberdeen Airport to fly back to London.
It is understood Prince Charles, his wife Camilla and Elizabeth’s daughter Princess Anne made it to Balmoral in Scotland in time before she died yesterday afternoon.
However, their other children, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, his wife Sophie and their grandson are said to have arrived later.
Prince Harry arrived in Scotland an hour after her death was announced. Both the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex, Kate and Meghan stayed in London.
Britain’s new king was preparing to meet the Prime Minister on Friday and address a nation mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, the only British monarch most of the world had known and a force of Stability in a volatile age.
The country began a 10-day period of mourning on Friday, with bells ringing across Britain and a 96 gun salute planned in London – one for each year of the Queen’s long life. People around the world gathered at British embassies to pay homage to the Queen, who died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday.
King Charles III, who spent much of his 73 years preparing for this role, ascends the throne at a time of uncertainty for both his country and the monarchy itself. In Britain and its former colonies, the widespread Admiration for Elizabeth herself at times mixed with criticism of the institution and imperial history she represented.
On the King’s first full day at work on Friday, he is expected to return to London to meet Prime Minister-appointed Liz Truss just days earlier and deliver a speech to the nation at a time when many Britons are grappling with an energy crisis and rising costs of living War in Ukraine and the consequences of Brexit.
Hundreds of people came through the night to lay flowers or simply pause and reflect at the gates of Buckingham Palace, the monarch’s London home.
