Three prison inmates who cut the ceiling while escaping are still on the run after four days.
Lance Justin Stephens, 29, Matthew Allen Crawford, 29, and Christopher Allen Blevins, 37, broke out of the Barry County, Missouri jail Friday morning after climbing through a hole in the roof and escaping through a maintenance door.
Officials have not revealed how long the trio, all believed to be armed and dangerous, were missing before their absence was discovered.
Barry County Sheriff’s Department Detective Doug Henry told CNN that the escape was made possible because the building was old and had plaster ceilings.
Authorities also believe the refugees fled the area and are no longer together.
“One was seen in Arkansas, one in Springfield,” Henry said.
According to the sheriff’s office website, the charges against Stephens include possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a gun, Crawford with larceny and Blevins with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a gun and a lawful hold, among others.
The sheriff’s office said on Facebook, “If you have any information as to where the suspects are or where they are headed to, we welcome your comments and will pass them on to the marshals.”
Police warned that under no circumstances should the suspects be approached.
Just last month a prisoner convicted of two murders escaped from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire before being arrested in Bolton.
Darren Pilkington was jailed in 2006 for the murder of his then-girlfriend, Carly Fairhurst.
He had reportedly been jailed five years earlier, aged 15, for beating Paul Akister to death outside a pub LancsLive.
He had been released four times in the past decade but was recalled each time after breaking rules and binge drinking and drugs.
