Filming of the film Rust resumes after Alec Baldwin and the production company reached an undisclosed settlement with the estate of slain cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Lawyers representing Ms Hutchins’ husband Matthew and their son Andros sued the Hollywood star and film producers in February for wrongful death.
Ms Hutchins was killed on the film’s set in October 2021 after a prop gun held by Baldwin was fired.
Director Joel Souza was also injured while filming at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.
Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained an expressed desire to do what is best for Halyna’s sonAlec Baldwin
Baldwin said in a statement on Instagram, “We are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil lawsuit filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained an expressed desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son.
“We are grateful to everyone who helped resolve this tragic and painful situation.”
Rust Movie Productions said of its attorney, Melina Spadone, “We are pleased that the parties have come together to resolve this matter, which, subject to court approval, represents an important step forward in celebrating Halyna’s life and her work to honor.”
Matthew Hutchins will serve as executive producer when filming resumes in January 2023.
He said in a statement: “We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, in our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC.
“As part of this settlement, our case is dismissed. Filming on Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume in January 2023 with all of the original leads on board.
“I have no interest in blaming or blaming[the producers or Mr. Baldwin].

“We all believe that Halyna’s death was a horrific accident. I’m grateful that the producers and entertainment community came together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
In my own attempts to heal, any decision to direct again only made sense to me if it was done with the involvement of Matt and the Hutchins familyJoel Souza
Souza said: “Those of us fortunate enough to have spent time with Halyna knew her to be immensely talented, kind, creative and a source of incredibly positive energy.
“I only wish the world would have known her under different circumstances, as I’m sure her amazing work would have done.” In my own attempts to heal, any decision to direct again only made sense to me if it was done with the involvement of Matt and the Hutchins family.
“While certainly bittersweet, I am pleased that together we will now complete what Halyna and I started. All of my effort on this film will be dedicated to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to enforce this on their behalf.”
It comes after a report on the incident revealed that the film’s production company “knew that firearm safety procedures were not followed on set” and “demonstrated simple indifference to staff safety”.
Rust Movie Productions was fined US$136,793 (£104,810), the maximum allowable under New Mexico state law, after a six-month investigation by the State Environmental Protection Agency.
Baldwin and the Rust producers also face a case brought by screenwriter Mamie Mitchell, although a Los Angeles judge recently ruled they did not have to face the central allegations of the assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
