Profane devs preview a challenging new woodland mount to tame

The latest development preview from the profane Team features concept art of a creature that can be tamed for use as a mount.

Development continues in all aspects of the world, and mounts are taking a bit of the spotlight this time. The Pre-Alpha only had one mount available, the Wolf Pig, but now they’re sharing something new that might help them make a name for themselves in this world, the Alyacaw.

These creatures that take inspiration from eagles and maybe griffins also take inspiration from cats.

“They’re very sneaky creatures that prey on smaller ones and kinda act like cats in the real world. Alyacaws are also fast and agile, using leaps to surprise and dominate their prey.”

These large cat- and eagle-inspired creatures are feathered and can respond to threats by essentially bloating themselves. If you face one and you see that they are doing so in response to feeling threatened, you might want to avoid them. They’ll be able to use their beaks to peck, but apparently it’s their leap that you really need to watch out for.

If you can overcome all of that, then the opportunity to try taming one comes along. If you succeed in this challenge, you can use it as a mount or to transport small amounts of cargo. You can also congratulate yourself on getting this fast and formidable creature you can count on.

With recent looks at what to expect in the game, including player towns, settlements, and NPC development advancements, as well as a continuously updated roadmap, these updates overall give an idea of what we can expect from the world. Of course, this new mount won’t be the last we can expect, but it’s still something that adds to the flavor or what we’ve already seen coming together.
