Switch OLED is a pretty nice system, but the docked experience seems to have caused some problems for some users.

In a lengthy thread on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, one user reportedly figured out how to fix TV blackouts that last “about four to five seconds at a time” when the OLED model is in docking mode and registering as connected is.

After some extensive testing, the “softer” and more flexible HDMI 2.0 cable included with the Switch OLED models seems to be the culprit. While the switch is compatible with both HDMI 1.4 and 2.0, it appears that the 2.0 version of the cable causes blackouts on certain TV models.

In short – if you switch to an HDMI 1.4 cable, “it seems like you won’t experience random power outages anymore”.
