A pub manager hit back at a customer review in which he fumed at the lack of Sunday roasts and the attitude of the staff, saying it was the patrons who left one of the waiters “in tears”.
The client had visited The Junction in Birmingham for a 76th birthday celebration – but said his visit was “hugely disappointing”.
The customer turned to Tripadvisor to complain that there was “hardly any Sunday roast left”, adding “rude staff, lack of responsibility and immature attitude of managers”.
The Junction on Harborne’s High Street has a 3.5 rating on Tripadvisor – with almost 350 independent reviews – many of which are very positive BirminghamLive.
One reviewer recently described it as “great food, super staff and a lovely atmosphere” and another praised the venue for serving up a “proper roast dinner”.
But one customer was not at all happy, writing on Tripadvisor: “No roasts, little choice on the menu at 4pm Sunday – why did you take a birthday booking for 12?”
They said: “We came to our father’s 76th birthday celebration to find that there were hardly any Sunday roasts left, let alone other items on the menu to choose from.
“Rude staff, lack of accountability and immature attitude of managers and poorly rated customer service all round. Extremely disappointing.
“Naïve business sense and embarrassing for everyone involved. We’ve been drinking at this pub for years, wanted to show our loyalty by reserving dinner, expected great things and experiencing that today was a low point for The Junction.”
And The Junction’s general manager, Helen, hit back on Tripadvisor’s website, complaining about the rude behavior of guests.
She said, “Hello. Unfortunately we did not have our roast chicken available on the day of your visit as this was out of our hands due to supply chain issues.
“However, we had other roast options and our normal menu items available as your waiter tried to explain to you at your table.
“I’m really disappointed to see that you commented that our team is rude. During your brief visit with us, the team did their best to provide you with the great service that we offer to all our guests, regardless of how you treat the team left one of them in tears and the rest discouraged by your attitude towards them.
“This type of behavior towards the team will not be tolerated, as I explained to you that day, and certainly will not be welcomed in the future. Regards, Helen.”
