Vladimir Putin appeared at a virtual meeting of his Security Council with a “bloated head” that looked like it had been photoshopped onto his body, commentators said.
One claim says that it appeared as if the Russian president’s head had been artificially attached to his body in manipulated footage.
The performance came amid opposition claims that Putin should be operated on immediately.
Today he appeared online with members of the Security Council and also spoke to Chancellor Olaf Scholz by phone, the Kremlin said.
A comment on his video appearance read: “His face and head looks so bloated especially his cheeks and around the back of his head.
“He looks photoshopped on his body.
“He definitely is, but what an odd look.”
Another said: “Either his clothes are too tight around his neck or he’s sitting in an awkward position.
“But the layer of skin and fat over his neck looks really uncomfortable.”
Interfax reported that Putin had informed Scholz “about the logic and the primary goals of the military special operation to protect the people’s republics in the Donbass and about measures to ensure the security of the civilian population.”
He told the German leader that “Civilians detained by Ukrainian soldiers at the site of the Azovstal Steel Plant in Mariupol were evacuated with the participation of representatives of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.”
And he tried to convince the German leader of “the ongoing flagrant violations of the norms of international humanitarian law and the inhumane terrorist methods used by fighters who adhere to Nazi ideology.”
