You have to hand it to Vladimir Putin – few politicians can bring the dead back to life.

But this idiot just about made it, with NATO.

Four months ago this defensive alliance was on life support. It was viewed as a creature of the past that was no longer relevant.

The European Left always hated it at first.

But even centrist politicians in Paris and Berlin began to question its effectiveness.

Some resented being under Washington DC’s effective military control.

They thought a European army allied with the European Union would be a better choice.

Ha! Can you imagine that?

When war broke out, they spent the next two years passing resolutions.

Arguing among themselves about health and safety implications.

Debating what to do over large bottles of red wine.
