Choosing the right airline can mean the difference between a great trip and a disaster. This year, Qatar Airways was named Airline of the Year by ratings site Skytrax for the seventh time since 1999.
Based on the survey of 14 million customers in more than 100 countries from September 2021 to August 2022, Qatari airlines topped the website’s list of World’s Best Airlines 2022.
“Being recognized as the Best Airline in the World was always a goal when Qatar Airways was founded, but winning it for the seventh time and receiving three more awards is a testament to the hard work of our incredible people,” said the Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said in a statement.
Qatar is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Qatar also accepted awards for Best Business Class.
Singapore Airlines was number 2, followed by Dubai’s Emirates and Japan’s ANA All Nippon Airways. Australia’s Qantas Airways ranked fifth out of more than 350 airlines included in Skytrax survey results.
Singapore Airlines was also recognized for Best Cabin Crew and ANA All Nippon Airways was recognized as Cleanest Airline. Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot won the award, followed by Australia’s Jetstar Airways. Singapore Airlines also won awards for Best First Class.
North American airline Delta also received six awards, while Turkish Airlines was named Europe’s Best Airline.
The 2022 World Airline Awards, which have been held virtually for the past two years due to COVID, have been announced at the Langham Hotel in the UK. The awards have been presented since 1999.
