That queen has reportedly left a “secret” letter with strict instructions not to be opened until 63 years after her death.
Queen Elizabeth II will apparently continue to share her wisdom long after her death, having left a letter to the citizens of Sydney ordering it not to be opened until 2085.
The Queen was Head of State of Australia and had previously written a letter hidden in a time capsule in a building dedicated to Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother.
Following the restoration of the Queen Victoria Building in 1986, the late monarch left the mysterious letter to the Lord Mayor of Sydney.
The instructions on the letter read: “On a convenient day of your choosing in the year 2085 AD, would you please open this envelope and convey my message to the citizens of Sydney to them,” it reads News.com.au.
What to Expect at the Queen’s Funeral
The letter was kept in a display case in a protected part of the building labeled “Elizabeth”.
The contents of the letter are so secret that not even the Queen’s personal staff knows what is written.
Thousands of mourners queue up all night to pay their respects to the late monarch.
People from around the world have joined a kilometer-long queue to pass the monarch’s coffin after it was handed over to the nation’s care on Wednesday afternoon.
As of 8 a.m. Thursday, the line was about 2.6 miles long.
The coffin, which stands on a catafalque and draped with a royal standard, continues to be guarded around the clock by units of the Tower of London’s Sovereign’s Bodyguard, Household Division or Yeoman Warders.
