The Sussexes have been told by royal aides not to “even think” about using the Queen as content for a Netflix documentary, and there’s a “ring of steel” around the monarch, expert Russell Myers said
The Queen has a “ring of steel” around her, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle warned by advisers not to “even think” about using her as a content source for a Netflix documentary, a royal expert has said.
Russell Myers says Buckingham Palace staff have put in place a tight cordon around the Queen but admits it’s impossible to know what the Sussexes will do with Netflix.
“There is an absolute ring of steel around the Queen when it comes to her advisors,” Mr Myers told US newspaper Today, the reported To express.
“I mean, they would certainly advise Harry and Megan not to think about it for even a second, but who knows what they will do?
“Last week they would definitely have been advised not to speak to Oprah Winfrey, not to speak to Gayle King, not to speak to the American journalists, and yet they still do.
“I mean, it makes you wonder how much more the family can take and I’m sure Prince William has his head on as Prince Charles like every time they come up on TV.”
Harry and Meghan signed a lucrative deal with Netflix in September 2020, aiming to produce documentary content for the streaming giant.
The couple recently saw their Netflix project, called Pearl, scrapped to save money as the company suffered a sharp drop in subscribers.
And Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes the couple may now be under pressure to produce “more” royal content quickly.
He told Express.co.uk: “There will clearly be pressure on Harry and Meghan to produce more and probably faster.”
A spokesman for the Sussexes confirmed that Prince Harry would attend the anniversary celebration with Meghan and their two children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
The family is “excited and honored” to be a part, the spokesman said in a statement.
It was questionable whether Harry would travel to the UK to join other royals to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee given his dispute with the government over security.
Harry missed his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral service in March.
The Sussexes will not join other royals as they wave to the crowd from the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping of the Color ceremony at the start of the festivities.
The Queen has decided that neither her son Andrew nor grandson Harry will be there this time, with attendance limited to working royals only.
“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that this year’s traditional balcony appearance of Trooping the Color will be restricted to Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family who are currently performing official public duties on the Queen’s behalf,” said a palace spokesman.
Harry stepped down from his royal duties after moving to California with Meghan in 2020.
