Queen says “No” when asked by the painter

The royal family is known for their no-nonsense attitude, from Prince Philip slams a photographer at the late Queen Mother’s ‘outrageous’ comment to Prince William.

And even the Queen herself has pulled off a host of one-liners and cheeky comebacks during her 70-year reign, and they show the iconic monarch has a keen sense of humour.

Mistaken for a queen, she was quick on her feet in the event of a breakdown, and luckily many of her jokes were recorded for prosperity.

Here we’ve collected five of our favorite and most iconic Queen Elizabeth moments, including that hilarious “Nahh” response that took the internet by storm when it resurfaced last year.

The chance encounter

As was widely reported at the time, the Queen was once walking through Balmoral with a guard when an American tourist met her, but had no idea who she was.

They asked, “Have you ever met the Queen?”

And she replied, “No,” before pointing to her security guard and adding, “But he did.”

The egg preference

When the Queen visited New Zealand in 1986, protesters threw eggs at her late husband, Prince Philip, and the couple later sat down for a state banquet.

During the fancy meal, she commented on the meal, saying, “New Zealand has long been known for its dairy products, although I should say I prefer my New Zealand eggs for breakfast myself.”

The Music Criticism

Corresponding Queen Elizabeth I’s Wicked Joke the Queen once watched the Everly Brothers during a Royal Variety performance and she bent down to give a review.

To her, her rendition of “Cathy’s Clown” sounded like “two cats being strangled.”

The crown

Not many people in this world know what it’s like to wear a crown, except maybe in costume. But the Queen gave a rare glimpse of what it’s like to have these priceless jewels on her head when asked by royal commentator Alastair Bruce if she would like to wear them during a documentary.

But instead she turned it into a joke, saying, “You can’t look down to read the speech — if you did, it would break your neck.”

No regret

And best of all, who could forget the “Nah” video in which the monarch answered a question and viewers thought she forgot for a second that she was the queen.

She posed for a portrait to mark her 80th birthday and said during a short clip that she could see herself aging.

The artist then asked her, “Does that upage you?” and the Queen replied, “Nah.”

The clip has gone viral, with many people laughing at the monarch’s casual response.

A TikTok user captioned the video: “The Queen answers a question like any guy in the UK.”
