The Manchester City star’s former representative has been at odds with FA rulings signing minors to an agency before their 16th birthday, although he denies any wrongdoing
Ward has been under investigation by the FA since March last year after he was is said to have paid the parents of an English youth talent £10,000 in exchange for joining Ward’s agency before the legal age of 16. The agent, who boasted Sterling as a client until September 2020, insists neither he nor anyone else from agency Colossal Sports Management made the payment.
The FA released the following statement on Thursday evening: “Adrian Ward and Colossal Sports Management LTD have both been charged with breaching FA Rule E1(b) in relation to both Mr Ward’s personal activity as a Registered Agent and the activity of accused Colossal Sports Management LTD.
“Approaching a player to enter into an agency contract before 1 January in the calendar year of his 16th birthday breaches Rules B8 and B8(i) of the FA Regulations on working with intermediaries. It is alleged that Adrian Ward either directly or indirectly made an approach to a minor on behalf of Colossal Sports Management LTD between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019.
“Adrian Ward has until Friday April 15, 2022 to respond to these separate charges.”
Ward – who also boasts Liverpool and England star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as another Colossal client could face a lengthy ban if he doesn’t have an answer to the charges against him.
The times claim they have seen documents showing that statements, text messages and receipts have been sent to the FA. Ward was first questioned by the FA on the matter back in December 2020.
The player at the center of this storm hasn’t been publicly named, but was with one First League club at the time of the alleged rapprochement and are now playing elsewhere on the continent.
Speaking of telegraph Last year, Ward said of his case, “If they [the FA] When you have done your job thoroughly, you will find that you have wasted your time. If they just asked me the questions directly, I would ask: what is their source of information? Where did it come from? Who did it come from? Why did he only get it now? You got it from an angry person.”
