Random: Another look at the Super Mario Galaxy DS fan project

Super Mario Galaxy is by far one of the best 3D Mario games and was a hit when it was originally released for the Wii in 2007. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if this game were available for the Nintendo DS instead?

As you may recall, while there have been hoaxes and more in the past, now there’s a fan project that’s actually making that dream come true. We covered it here on Nintendo Life in June last year and showed footage of this custom build shared by the Jesse YouTube channel.

Now in the latest update via Super Mario Galaxy fan account Comet Observatory on Twitter, it seems that a “short public demo” of this build has been released. We also revisited this project, which appears to be fully compatible with real hardware:

While this is just a small sample of Super Mario Galaxy DS, we’re still as impressed as we were when we originally saw this project. It’s not necessarily the first time that Nintendo fans have pushed the boundaries of official hardware.
