It’s almost that time of year that every cool text message makes you cringe and check the date, but don’t worry my April Fools’ friends: this one’s real, and besides, it’s March 25th. You are sure. At least another week.
The makers of the popular Bloodborne PSX demake (which you can read about on Push Square, of course) have poked fun at the community joke of a playable racing game called Bloodborne in the past Bloodborne cardas you can see in this April 1st Twitter post:
But, well, if you have all the assets in place, why not just do the whole thing? And that’s exactly what they did. You made it come true. And it’s bloody brilliant.
In the two-minute trailer below, we see our Chaser in a pretty yellow car, speeding through a Pthumerian Cup course: drifting through cathedrals, wrought-iron fences and long, foreboding tunnels, all presented in that delightfully crisp low-poly PS1 style of the Bloodborne Demakes.
Unlike Mario Kart, there doesn’t seem to be any pickups, but who cares? There is a Akira reference, and that’s way better than anything a hunter could use in place of banana peels. blood stains maybe?
Honestly, it’s surprising how deep this game could potentially get. Lady Maria as Penelope Pitstop-esque racer; Gehrman in a rocket-powered wheelchair; The Doll as a Lakitu-equivalent race starter; Rome The Vacuous Driver… Can you imagine it? cool.
The Bloodborne PS1 Demake is free to download on itch.io. So we hope Bloodborne Kart gets the same treatment (although you should definitely consider tossing some Bloodbucks to the devs as a token of appreciation and support).
Anyway, I’ll be playing as Ludwig, who will definitely have a Double Dash-like ability to switch between Horse Form and Holy Blade Form. I look forward to seeing you on the tracks, beautiful huntress.
Who is your Bloodborne Kart main character? What skills do they have? Let us know in the comments.
