Back in 2021, the Japanese aquarium Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise hosted an Animal Crossing: New Horizons event where visitors could participate in a real stamp rally, just like in the game.
Obviously there was zero hope most of us could attend without already Lucky for us to be in Japan, an insider recorded some of the experiences and posted them on TikTok so we can live the dream vicariously!
The exhibit had Animal Crossing themed cards to fill out, as well as information boards about the animals, with museum/aquarium curator Blathers talking about each one. And of course there was the Aquarium gift shop fully of Animal Crossing themes, including (it looks like) some of Japan’s Gelato Pique X Animal Crossing items.
There were passes for each visitor, which allowed you to fill in your own “photo” (this particular visitor seems to have drawn herself and her husband’s Animal Crossing characters) alongside some basic details, just like the in-game pass.
There were ten stamps to collect in total, themed to Animal Crossing villagers: Molly, Lily, Octavian, Goldie, Peanut, Fauna, Curt, Aurora, Alfonso, and Rocco. There was also apparently a “special” stamp that looks like the entire group is contained in one stamp.
The event took place between July 12 and August 31, 2021, but perhaps it could come back this year following renewed interest in Animal Crossing following the massive fall 2021 update. And maybe, perhaps it could come anywhere near us… But we’d probably have better luck just going into any aquarium and talking Animal the whole time.
