Albion remain interested in Calvin Bassey – as competition for the Rangers defender appears to be heating up.
The 22-year-old has been targeted by Ajax to replace Lisandro Martinez who is moving to Manchester United.
Both Albion and Ajax are said to have held talks with Rangers over Bassey.
A well-placed source confirmed tonight that he’s still “of interest” to the Seagulls, “and has been for a while.”
Bassey can play left-back and centre-back.
The Press Association’s report has caught the attention of several clubs.
Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder is understood to have spoken to the Nigeria international over the phone.
Rangers are looking to rake in a potentially record fee for Bassey, who has two years left on his current contract.
The largest sum they have received so far was £11.5million plus add-ons when Nathan Patterson joined Everton in January.
