Rapper ASAP Rocky Arrested For 2021 Filming At LA Airport

Rapper ASAP Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in connection with a Hollywood shooting last year, authorities said.

The actor, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Mayers, 33, was wanted in connection with a shooting on November 6 last year after a dispute escalated, authorities said.

Mayers is accused of shooting an acquaintance with a handgun, who sustained minor injuries and later sought medical attention, police said.

Mayers and two other men ran after the shots, police said.

The Mayers RCA Records publicist and attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

TMZ and NBC News first reported the arrest and details of the 2021 shooting.

Mayers had been photographed with Rihanna days earlier in Barbados.

The high-profile celebrity couple announced in January that they were expecting their first child together. They did not disclose the due date.

Mayers released his last studio album four years ago and, like Rihanna, has become as well known for fashion trendsetters as he is for music.

He was the center of international attention in 2019 after being jailed in Sweden for almost a month following a street fight. He was found guilty of assault and sentenced to a “conditional sentence,” which carried no additional jail time.
