Fortune favors the brave, and sometimes the greatest opportunities are the ones we create for ourselves. American rapper Logic recently revealed how he made it into the critically acclaimed sequel The Last of Us Part 2, in which he shares his love for the series and provides details on the voice acting process.
Logic, also known as Young Sinatra and Bobby Tarantino, takes us back to the beginning of this story when he meets Steve Blum, a notable voice actor known for his role as Spike Spiegel on Cowboy Bebop. Shortly thereafter, Blum introduces rapper Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie Williams on The Last of Us.
Eventually, Logic is invited to play Naughty Dog’s other hit game, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, in which he meets the company’s co-president, Neil Druckmann. As they talk, he subtly hints to Druckmann that he’d like to play in a game, even if it’s a “trash can.” However, it is not until Becky Dodd, casting director of The Last of Us Part 2, approaches him to audition for a role in this episode.
Although the rapper initially read out for the role of Jesse, he was instead greenlighted to play Bobby Hall, a minor antagonist who goes up against Ellie. At this point, Logic discusses how he used his copywriting skills to memorize lines for the character and his general knowledge of the game, having played it over 15 times previously.
At the end of the video, Logic expresses its commitment to the series and looks forward to the recently released HBO TV adaptation of The Last of Us. The show has already garnered a ton of good reviews and looks promising enough to attract more fans to the franchise. Whether the enterprising musician could snag another gig from the series remains to be seen.
