Last night at my direction, US military forces in northwestern Syria successfully conducted a counterterrorism operation to protect the American people and our allies and turn the world into a a safer place. Thanks to the skill and courage of our armed forces, we have brought down Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi – the leader of ISIS. All Americans returned safely from the operation. I will deliver my speech to the American people later this morning. May God protect our army.
