Real Housewives of Cheshire: Wes and Leanne star in the show

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Leanne Wassell is reported to have split from her footballer husband Wes Brown after 12 years of marriage.

The couple is said to have secretly broken up last year.

It is widely reported that while Leanne, 45, has removed her wedding ring, former Manchester United player Wes, 42, has moved out of the villa they share with their three children.

They have been together for over 20 years and got married in 2009.

But now, it is said that all is over.

A source told Sun : “Wes and Leanne split before Christmas. No third parties were involved; the sad fact is that their marriage was on track.

“Leanne flourished in her single life and took off her wedding ring.

“She has told people that she feels free and is working hard on her business and growing as an independent woman.”

The insider added that Wes is “trying as hard as we can” and that they are doing their best to parent their kids, Halle, 19, Lilia, 14, and Lola, 11.

Leanne hinted at the breakdown of her marriage on a cryptic Instagram earlier this month.

Along with the photo without her wedding ring, she wrote: “When you realize that the relationship that needs the most care in your life, love, kindness, respect and compassion, it’s you, Your life will improve dramatically.”

Leanne is close friends with Coleen Rooney, but was absent from her husband Wayne’s recent documentary premiere, which Wes attended alone.

The reality star talked about the “lovely life” she and Wes had together in 2019.

She said at the time: “Yes, we have a lovely life and all this money and I’m not saying the money isn’t big, but when you’re in it, you’re living in this bubble.

“Although the fans can be great, they can also be very cruel.

“It must be hard [for footballers] to deal with being on top one minute and hating the next for a bad kick or missed goal.

“We are the ones left to pick up pieces and bear the brunt of whatever remains at the end of their careers.

“Sometimes it’s hard to be alone.

The Mirror has contacted representatives for Wes and Leanne for comment.
