Rebekah Vardy said she felt “abandoned by the legal system” in her first interview since losing the “Wagatha Christie” defamation battle to Coleen Rooney.
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s wife appears to be getting emotional in a teaser clip released ahead of an interview with TalkTV.
Last week, Vardy, 40, lost a libel battle against Rooney, 36, over a viral social media post after a High Court judge found it to be “essentially true”.
In her first interview since the verdict, a tearful Vardy sits down with TalkTV host Kate McCann to discuss the verdict.
The former I’m a star… Get me out of here! The contestant looks at McCann and says, “Oh, come on, you can’t ask me that.”
Later in the preview clip, Vardy can be seen adamantly saying, “I’m going to say this until I’m blue in the face. I did not do it.”
She also says, “I feel let down by a lot of people, a lot of things, but most of all I feel let down by the legal system.”
In the October 2019 social media post, Rooney said she underwent months of “stab surgery” and accused Vardy of leaking “false stories” to the press about her personal life.
Former England star Wayne Rooney’s wife publicly claimed Vardy’s account was the source behind three stories in The Sun newspaper with fake details she posted on her private Instagram stories.
Vardy denied leaking stories to the media and sued her fellow footballer’s wife for defamation, while Rooney defended the claim, saying her post was “essentially true”.

Both women took part in a week-long trial at the High Court in London in May that drew widespread press attention.
In a much-anticipated July 29 ruling, Ms Justice Steyn ruled in favor of Rooney and dismissed the lawsuit against her.
The total legal costs of the case are believed to be in the region of £3million, most of which will now be borne by Vardy.
As the teaser comes to an end, Vardy suddenly bows her head before looking up again with tears in her eyes.
Rebekah Vardy: Coleen and me airs August 3 at 7 p.m. on TalkTV.
