Coleen’s attorney David Sherborne QC did not hold back as he continued the cross-examination, telling Vardy, 40, she was “saved by the bell” after Wednesday’s procedure ended prematurely due to a fire alarm going off.
Long-time rivals all attended the trial with thousands of pounds worth of luxury gadgets, with Coleen, 36, and husband Wayne, also 36, while Vardy was surrounded by burly security guards. broken.
The three-year smear case surrounding Rooney accused Vardy of leaking “false stories” about her private life in October 2019 after she said she did a month-long surgery she named “Wagatha Christie”.
Vardy denies the allegations and has sued the footballer’s wife for damages over a “false and baseless defamation attack”.
Here are the most notable moments from Tuesday so far:
The WAGs are “angry” because of the “pap photo manipulation” at the 2018 World Cup
Mr Sherborne asked Rebekah if they could continue from the moment she was “saved by the bell” – when yesterday’s trial was halted early after the fire alarm went off.
Sherborne suggested Vardy to a photographer the name of her WAGs hotel and restaurant in St Petersburg at the 2018 World Cup.
Vardy denied that and said the photographers were outside the hotel.
Mr Sherborne said it was a ‘staged pap photo’ and she was worried if someone else took the photo it would lose financial value.
Vardy said: “No.”
Vardy texted Watt: “F***. I asked everyone out to take pictures and pap was there. Looks like I’ve got him out now.”
“The girls asked me to put it on Insta so they could get it out quickly. They wanted me to put it up before pap put it in.”
Sherborne insists that the WAGs don’t like Vardy putting up pictures and they want the photos posted on social media to lose their selling value.
He said an FA representative said in a witness statement several WAGs had expressed to her their “discomfort and disbelief” at being “trapped” by Vardy to be in the photo. .
Harry Maguire’s fiancée Fern Hawkins ’embarrassed’ by ‘staged’ scene
Mr Sherborne said FA representatives claimed Harry Maguire’s fiancée Fern Hawkins had “expressed displeasure” and was “shy, unprepared and not expecting to be placed in that position”.
Vardy replied, “No. Fern posted many pictures of herself of that night, where we were, what we were doing and what we ate.”

Sherborne accused Vardy of leaking another story based on a photo she posted on her personal Instagram account.
Vardy said: “No, that’s not true”.
Mr. Sherborne said after a series of leaks from her personal account, Rooney posted a message: “The grass strikes again. It’s just the truth someone is telling them. It’s just a thing. in recent weeks that I’ve noticed.”
Vardy asked “Who is Davy Jones?”
Sherborne said it was ‘regrettable’ that they did not have the WhatsApp messages that journalist Andy Hall exchanged with Becky’s agent Caroline Watt because they were “at the bottom of the North Sea in Davy Jones’ locker”.
The court heard Watt’s cell phone fall from the boat into the water shortly after a judge ordered it checked for trial.
Vardy replied: “Who is Davy Jones?”
Judge Mrs. Justice Steyn (corr) told her: “It just means being on the bottom of the sea.”
Vardy replied, “Oh, okay.”
Davy Jones’ Locker is a metaphor for the seabed: the deadly state of drowned sailors and shipwrecks.
Coleen’s Messages With Becky Revealed
An insight into Rebekah and Coleen’s friendship was revealed on Thursday when WAGs’ messages were read in court.
Sherborne said after a story emerged that Vardy had scheduled more days off than Coleen that year she was texting her rival.
He said Mrs Vardy joked “when should we book another holiday?” and wished the mother-of-four good luck with her move to Washington DC, adding that she “must be delighted”.
During the exchange, Coleen told Vardy: “They talk rubbish too. You can be receptive.”
The lawyer said: “You are asking for some information about her, is it true or not?”
She replied, “Of course not, I thought the article was completely ridiculous so I thought I’d text her laughing about it, it’s crazy.”
The WAG said she didn’t ask about Rooney’s move to Washington and simply wished her luck.
Vardy was asked after Coleen’s Honda ‘touched’ was leaked in the newspapers
Mr. Sherborne asked Vardy about a photo Rooney posted on her personal Instagram account showing her crashing her Honda 4×4 in Washington DC.
The photo shows damage to one side of the vehicle. Rooney captioned it: “RIP half a Honda.”
Soon after, a story appeared in the same newspaper about the accident.
Two days before the article was published, Vardy exchanged messages about it with agent Caroline Watt.
Watt texted: “Am I imagining this or did you say yesterday that Coleen crashed her Honda?”
Vardy replied: “She screwed up”. Vardy tells Watt to check Rooney’s personal Instagram account.
Watt then texted her saying she would try to “do a Coleen story” but the post was deleted.
Vardy said the newspaper “had information” about Coleen’s car crash.
Mr Sherborne said reports Rooney crashed her car – which Vardy confirmed – turned out to be ‘false’.
He said: “You actually confirmed through Caroline Watt that Mrs. Rooney crashed her car. But she wasn’t, was she?”
Sherborne said Rooney responded by posting a message online saying someone was selling stories from her account.
On her public Twitter account, she said she wasn’t in an accident, someone hit her car and the story was false.

The Supreme Court heard Rebekah’s witness statements that were repeatedly revised ahead of the defamation trial.
Mr Sherborne said court elements in witness testimony related to a photo allegedly staged with other wives and girlfriends in Russia in June 2018 changed over the course of the disclosure.
After reading her original witness statement, Sherborne read the revised statement from July 2021.
He said: “You say this: ‘The claimant did not staged the photo published in The Sun’.
“What has happened since then is that you no longer say you have nothing to do with the published photo.”
The WAG told Sherborne he was “confounding her” when asked if both statements were true, before saying: “Sometimes you make mistakes.”
Mr Sherborne said: “The reason you don’t tell your story straight is because you lied.”
She denied his allegations.
The trial continued.
