Rebekah Vardy’s ex-husband has staunchly denied the accusations of forcing her to talk about her one-night stand with Peter Andre.

On the first day of Wagatha Christie’s defamation trial, Vardy, 40, was asked about an interview she gave, where she disparaged Peter Andre’s rogueness and called it ‘ chipolata’.

Vardy, under cross-examination by Coleen Rooney’s lawyer David Sherborne, said she was pressured by her ex-husband to give a ‘kiss and tell’ interview with News of the World.

She said she was “forced into a situation” by Steve Clarke, before adding that she was “in a terrible, terrible relationship. The consequences of not doing something are worse. much worse than implementing it.”

However in an interview with Mail on SundayMr Clarke has vowed to remove his name and challenge Vardy’s courtroom to assert that he was an abusive partner and force her to do the interview.

Clarke had just hired Vardy at his Oxfordshire time-sharing company when a one-night stand with pop star Mysterious Girl struck.

Clarke told the Mail: ‘Rebekah is a chatty, fun and pretty girl, but I didn’t know much more until people started talking about her spending the night with Peter.

“She told her colleagues and it became the talk of the office. Within a week of it happening, everyone knew what had happened. She couldn’t keep quiet. .”

He started dating Vardy in 2001, while she was separated from her first husband, and they married in 2005 but it only lasted a year before breaking up.

On the kissing and telling story, Clarke said that Rebekah found an appeal to the stories on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here to which the Australian singer is registered.

When questioned by her partner about the motives of her article, she allegedly replied “it’s a bit of money” for her and “it would be funny”.

Clarke alleges that his only involvement with the interview was to take Vardy to a studio in south-west London and pick her up after it was over.

Vardy also made statements about Clarke’s abuse and rape in a 2017 interview with The Sun on Sunday.

Clarke filed a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organization, which has since been maintained. The 57-year-old also insists he has “never been lenient” with Vardy throughout their relationship.

“I never abused Becky, I was never in control,” he said. “She does what she wants, when she wants, and I never raise my hand to her.

“The false statements made against me have upset me, my family and friends.”

Vardy, who was eight months pregnant with another man’s child when she married Clarke, is said to have pushed for a more lavish lifestyle in their relationship and wants to move to London before it falls. broke in January 2006.

He added: “I fell out of love with her and I knew it was over. I felt like I was being taken advantage of for my money. I felt like I was the payer.”

The so-called Wagatha Christie trial is being sued by Vardy after Rooney, 36, accused her of leaking private stories about her to The Sun.

Rooney went public with her allegations in a tumultuous October 2019 tweet where she claimed to have performed a month-long surgery using her personal Instagram.

The trial ends on Friday and a ruling is expected in the summer.
